The school library supports the curriculum of the campus and coincides with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. By promoting the joy of reading, our library  supports the development of lifelong learning.  The school library enhances the curriculum as well as provides enrichment resources for all students regardless of their race, religion,
or level of intellectual development.

Remember library books are due on Wednesdays!

At Hallsburg, the school library is open throughout the day with special storytime on Wednesdays with Mrs. Driskell for Kindergarten through Grade Two.  Grades Three through Six are involved in reading promotion, research, and  are participants in Junior Great Books as well.  To stimulate motivation and reading comprehension, children in Grades Two through Six are involved in the Accelerated Reader Program. The AR Store  provides opportunities for extrinsic rewards as students redeem points for prizes.
Points are ascribed according to extent and difficulty of the book.

The Book Fair Blizzard started the month of October with a cool start. In fact,the winning class of Sixth Graders had the honor of smearing
Mr. Reynolds with cool whip! Parents, teachers, and children were great supporters of the fair which netted almost $1,000 of books for the school!

 

Tips for Proper Book Care

  • Return books on time.
  • Keep books in a backpack.
  • Guard books from water damage.
  • Protect books from pets.
  • Books deserve clean hands to hold them.
  • Turn pages carefully.
  • Use a bookmark to mark pages.

 

Students in Grades 4-6 participated in an informative webcast which was preformed live from New York. Smokey Bear comes to Hallsburg! Smokey Bear comes to Hallsburg! While dangerous fires devastate Southern California, Hallsburg students will stay on alert with fire prevention awareness.

and the Department of Homeland Security. "Cyber Citizens" stressed the importance of avoiding any contact with strangers online.
Also, stressed via drama and music were avoiding computer viruses from downloading attachments,
and maintaining obedience to United States Copyright Law. (Next Two) Smokey Bear comes to Hallsburg! While dangerous fires
devastate Southern California, Hallsburg students will stay on alert with fire prevention awareness. Coming from the National Forest Service,
Mary Kate and Smokey Bear visited the school on October 26, 2007, bringing much needed information for all.
