Accepting transfers, tuition free. First come first served. Limited seating in each class. Waiting list will be developed when class fills.

TRANSFER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Due to our small size and commitment to the individual child, many compare Hallsburg to a private school but we are a fully accredited public school serving students PreK through the Sixth Grade. 

  • Yes we do. Yes we do. Hallsburg has had more transfer students than resident students enrolled at times, transferring from as many as eleven different districts. We welcome new friends from all over the area.

  • There is no tuition or transfer fee to attend Hallsburg Elementary School in grades Kindergarten – 6th.  

    However, PreK is subject to state guidelines and tuition is applicable if not qualified based on those guidelines.

  • The school district receives money from the state, determined by the number of students in the district and is based on attendance. 

  • The district does not provide transportation out of the district.

  • No. Please review district policy FDA(LOCAL), under the transfer section of our web site. We try to accommodate as many requests as possible but unfortunately, we occasionally have to deny transfer requests.

  • Class sizes vary depending on the grade. We have one class per grade. Our optimum number per class is 18 to 20 students.

  • The cafeteria is open at 7:00 am for early student drop-off.  Students must be dropped off by 7:30am to enter through the cafeteria doors.  Students arriving after that time will be required to enter at the office.  The school day begins at 7:35am and ends at 3:35pm.  

     

     

  • Resident students may apply as a transfer to Mart or Riesel ISD when they finish the 6th grade at Hallsburg. Transportation is provided for Hallsburg students that live in the district to Hallsburg ISD where they can catch a bus to Mart ISD or Riesel ISD. 

    Students who are transfers to Hallsburg must either go back to their resident district for 7th grade or they can apply for a transfer elsewhere, but it will not be affiliated with Hallsburg.  It is the parents’ responsibility to contact the school of choice regarding their transfer policy and timeline for applying.  Hallsburg ISD cannot enroll your child at another district and cannot guarantee acceptance.
